Things to do in Rio 2017 - Rio de Janeiro is Brazil's most famous city known as Cidade Maravilhosa (Marvelous City) and is the capital city of the state of the same name Rio de Janeiro.

Things to do in Rio 2017 - Rio is located on the Atlantic Coast close to the Tropic of Capricorn and found on a stretch called Guanabara Bay. Rio de Janeiro translates into english as River of January and was founded in 1502 by the portuguese explorer Gaspar de Lemos. Rio de Janeiro was the capital of Brazil until 1960 when it was decided to move the csapital to the centre of the country and the creation of Brasília as its capital city.

Most of the locals will be having a barbeque in the streets and their homes and then heading down to the Copacabana for the fireworks display which are truly spectacular with no cost spared. You will need to get down their a couple of hours early should you wish to find a good spot as the beach is completely full.
